Can antipsychotics cause hallucinations?

I didn’t have many hallucinations before taking medication at my first mental hospital stay. But in the consecutive stays after taking medication I did hallucinate and was more out of it. I think all the medicine really did a number on me and may have made me more sick. Anybody have similar experiences?

Seroquel made my hallucinations worse, but back before the hallucinations started, I took it for sleep and it didn’t actually cause any hallucinations then.

I just want to tell you that Seroquel Bind loosely to the D2 receptors and that makes the brain go psychotic when you stop using it. It will take your brain some weeks to downregulate the synapsids and then you will feel normal again. One month ago I lowered my Seroquel from 600 to 300 mg it took me 3 weeks to sleep normally and feel sane. Today I’m quitting Seroquel.

Now where I think about it I think that it’s to risky so I go down with 100 mg to 200 mgs

Probably not. There is no theoretical reason why antipsychotics should worsen hallucinations. You may be on the wrong dose or it may be related to some other medicine that you are taking. Tell the prescriber.

Geodon gave me weird visuals and more psychotic symptoms. I had a terrible time with that medication. Anything is possible.

This is the first time I’ve heard someone say something like that about

This is the first time I have heard anyone say something like that about Geodon. Many people, including myself, regard it as a godsend. It is the only ap med I’ve come across that handles my symptoms without making my brain dull as mud.

Im pretty sure it says on the leaflet of the pills, so yes, I would say so.

Now I’m on a stable regime of 400 mg. Seroquel, 160 mg Geodon and 500 mg Clopixol 3 weekly and plan to stay on that dose for a long time. I was just doing so well and that made me play around with my meds.

I’ve been on a lot of different APs and I’ve never had one make positive symptoms worse. Some work better than others, but all have been better than nothing at all. It’s mostly the side-effects that I have trouble with.
