Can a sz become a fireman in Canada

Hi,

Was wondering if it was possible to become a fireman despite being sz. I am pretty sure I can handle the job as I am now pretty stable on meds and already work night shift security.

Just wondering if anyone has any idea.

I got selected. I was about 43 though. The physical fitness test was too much for me on meds. I just quit.

I will warn you. In the US that test is hard. And I was a Marine. Used to be in great shape.

From what I know, yes. The larger problem is that there are very few jobs of this nature and a LOT of applicants competing for them.

I’m pretty sure you don’t have to disclose in canada. I know that it is against human rights in Canada.

If it’s possible and you got hired you would be making life and death decisions, other fireman would depend on you to make split second decisions that could mean the difference between life and death for them and yourself. You would have to be moving quickly; hesitation, doubt or uncertainty could get you injured or killed. All these conditions are stressful and a lot of schizophrenics can’t handle stress. If it ain’t me pointing this out, it will be someone else.
