Does anyone suffer from body spasms? I can’t lay still or even sit still without my body jerking.
Anyone have this or know how to cope?

Is it like restlessness where you feel like you have to shake or is it uncontrollable like tremors?

Is it where the whole body all of a sudden makes a jerking movement n then it stops? Yes I get that like once every other night I have no idea what to do about it though. I hope this doesn’t happen too often to u

I get spasms like this in my spine and neck. It confuses people. I have no idea what causes it, though. I know it’s not like an uncontrollable tremor, though, because I’ve never reacted to it that way. I just kind of let people know I just have spasms sometimes and that (lie) I can’t control it, so they leave me alone about it.

I have that, I’m not sure if it is the illness, the meds or both…

For me, I think it’s the illness, since I’ve had it pre-meds.

I find that taking nicotine kind of dulls them a little bit. Hopefully Wellbutrin will kind of cease them.

I don’t know, I’m only on 2 antidepressants and they make it worse for me…

I’m currently weaning off cymbalta, have never been on 2 before.

Are you on an AP? You might tell your doctor about the restlessness and ask about something like cogentin. You could also try magnesium. That’s what I take and it helps me a lot.

Do u mind me asking if this has been happening for like months and months? I ask because when I had it it was when i started out on my AP but it subsided after like 3 months as the body got adjusted I suppose

My experience is the opposite to yours…I had this spasms when I quit medication for long and started to have positive symptoms. I was sent to a hospital and was put on medication again. To my surprise when I started to take antipsychotics again the spasms went away immediately.

That’s unusual to me I usually thought the med did it but someone else also said they had it before meds. We all different I suppose. I guess u have more reason to stay on med then.

It is not very unusual, for example look in this interview, before being on APs this guy was very nervous and shaking and then he got better.

Right, my spasms went down on certain APs. Not that I had a lot to begin with, but I noticed they were gone after. I have had tremors on other meds, however.

Is spasms similar to twitching? My pdoc says when I get twitching it’s due to anxiety as well

Well, it’s like a shiver. I get an electric feeling and then I have to HAVE TO then have a spasm response to relieve it.
