I understand every medication works different for all people, but was wondering I’m on the highest dose of Invega right now. Was wondering what all other Month long or more shot’s there are out there that work with the least side effects like weight gain and others?
I just want to get an idea for what else is out there cause i’ve heard bad things about Invega yet it works, but it does create an uneasy feeling for me the next 2-3 day’s after the shot. It keeps me at a weight of about 190-200 and can’t lose it, yet I don’t work or do much excercise so doesn’t help
I’m on Invega 75mg and it’s working okay for me. I know when they increased it to 100mg I started to feel depersonalisation and disconnected but my pdoc decreased it back to 75mg and fortunately my psychosis didn’t return. I know it’s frustrating when your meds stop working. I maxed out my Abilify depot that’s when I changed to Invega, so for its working good.
They have me on the highest dose which is like 234mg or something. I do have paranoia from time to time, and seem to get this unpleasant feeling after my shot for like 2-3 day’s or so. No weight gain, but can’t get out of the 190-200 pound range, yet it does work for it’s purpose and it has for the last couple years or so.
Have you ever noticed any unpleasant slight paranoid feelings after you get your shot? You might not be on high enough dose though, or it just may be me IDK. I just heard a few people in here say Invega is poison to the brain yet it works for a lot of people with some side effects for some and some not so much
I’ve heard some crazy things about haldol. I just thought haldol was a sedative they give you when your going out of your head not a regular shot.
I"m thinking of a drug that people say gives them the shuffle, I think the haldol shuffle, I may be wrong, but we talked about it in the hospital a lot when people were drooling or shuffling. I guess that’s why I thought it was a sedative narcotic
It’s an older AP and can be sedating at higher levels. That’s actually why I’m on the shot. Because I like haldol but I needed to be on a higher dose and the oral meds were making me a complete zombie. So I added the shot and took a lower dose of oral meds. No sedation at all at my current dose of 100mg/mL every 4 weeks injection and 10mg per day oral.
Well I know they gave me a shot that knocked me out for about 2 hours or more cause I was losing touch with reality. That’s what it may of been. Glad to hear your doing good and not being sedated now.
There’s an instant release version and a depot version of haldol shot. You may have been given the instant version with something like ativan to knock you out and can you down. I know I’ve been given those two in combo when I was losing my ■■■■ in the hospital.
But look up haldol decanoate for not info on the monthly version.
That’s kind of what I’m looking for. Well I’ll just tell you the cons of the shot I’m looking for since there less. I know I’m being picky when I say this and mental health comes first, but I didn’t want to blow up like a balloon when I was on a shot, and I didn’t want the uneasy feeling it came with the few day’s after the shot and all my voices to go away, Especially when I’m trying to sleep. And stopped Paranoia from time to time. That’s it, but I think that’s the unicorn shot, cause I’ll never find one like that, that does that good.
Just getting tired of taking Invega and dealing with the side effects didn’t know if there were other shots out there just as good
I think my Grandpa took Haldol and it made his Sz worse. Made him see Snakes and other sorts of stuff. I’ve been doing so good now on Invega I’m scared to switch to anything else, but don’t want to be pigeonholded on one med.
Yeahhh your right. That’s probably what they did. Probably mix it with Ativan to knock me out, although I only remember getting 1 shot in my thigh, which I was losing my ■■■■ in the hospital that day and thought I was seeing dead relatives and many other crazy things
I know what you mean about wanting to keep your options open. I’ve only been on the shot since late December, but I was on oral haldol for about 3.5 years before that. It took a few months to stop getting the big ups and downs before/after the injection, but now it’s pretty stable. I feel a little worse the week leading up to the shot, but by the day after I feel good again.
The med’s affect people differently. I never had any problem with weight gain with Geodon and Seroquel. I gained 60 lbs in 120 days on Zyprexa, though.
