Being retired is getting boring

Work used to get me out and solve little puzzles when I worked My final job for 18 years. Worked 38 years total and I’ll tell you it now seems so fast.
I now do volunteer work 2 days a week.

That’s why I recommend working if you can. I understand if you can’t or if there are no jobs.
But if you start at the way bottom, like everyone, it gets better as you learn the stuff they just don’t teach you in any school.

I am ready for retirement. I have so much I want to do. It is just a matter of a few months until I cut way down on work.

That’s a good idea to cut down because I kept wanting to work so bad for months until I got used to it.
See how you like working less first.
I miss the structure but then maybe I’m just scatter brain?

MY days are numbered to be working, pain is getting a bit much, everything in my body takes its turn hurting, been doing hard labor since i was 16, 45 years of it

I am still working even though I should be not working. I will most likely work until I drop in my workplace. In the next two weeks I am changing the time of day I am working and also cutting back.

Trick is to make your leisure time as rewarding. Volunteering is great but you need to keep active body and mind. Try some hobbies, sport or pastimes. There is a lot you can do to keep going and exercise both!

I don’t binge watch shows, but I watch one episode of something each night so I have something to look forward to the next day. Maybe try a travel documentary or keep up with the news. Also just enjoy life! Go out every day and attend a support group or church or visit family. Make some art, join an artist community… Bake some cookies and cook. Take a long walk every night. Attend an adult class for cooking or golf. Join a good volunteer organization or volunteer for NAMI or a mental health organization. Become a peer support specialist. Do “mini travels” where you just go to the park or a nearby attraction or maybe plan for an overseas or road trip. Learn to dance or learn to paint. Read. Do things that ultimately you enjoy and improve your quality of life.
