Bad dreams

I have noticed an increase in bad dreams since quitting the medication… Any ideas as to why?

Why did you quit meds

Because that was the choice that I and my medical team made.

Oh OK I get bad dreams from ptsd not sure about yours.

Well, I have PTSD…

Yeah likely that’s it but I’m not a doc.

I get bad dreams when I am emotionally upset. How’s your emotional life?

Up and down, but, mostly good. Normal I would say.

I have been taken off meds in the past with the approval of my doctor, and in the first few days, my moods and sleeping patterns were all over the place. I had lots of dreams and vivid nightmares. Take that for what it’s worth - we might have a commonality.

I have been off them for about 2 weeks now.

As I recall, it took about 6 months for me to even out. I then proceeded to be medication-free for about 8 years until I relapsed.

What do you think triggered the relapse?

You know, quite honestly, I haven’t the foggiest. It just kind of happened. That was 2008. 7 years now I’ve been on meds. I was medicated from 1994-2000, and again from 2008-present. I have received top-notch care at the facility I go to, and they do not foresee me coming off meds ever again. They did an fMRI on me, and whatever they saw was wrong indicated to them I was “damaged goods,” for lack of a better term.
