Both females in the home return to school tomorrow. One as a teacher and one as a Jr. High student. It’s a new school for both, so there is a touch of anxiety to be quelled.
My day consisted of cleaning and baking. Lots of cookies and muffins cooled off, bagged, and put into the freezer to facilitate the process of making lunches. School supplies are packed for the kidlet. Her clothes are picked out for tomorrow. Mom asked me to help her choose an outfit, which she finds frustrating as I think I’m expected to just say “yes” to her first choice. I finally did say yes, but because it was to the paisley blouse which is heavy with fractal patterns. I dig fractals. Not sure how it works as a fashion choice so I am probably the last person to ask about that sort of thing. The hazards of living with the mentally ill, etc.
Tomorrow I get the home to myself for the first time in many months. I’m thinking I’ll have a cuppa, bake some scones, and nap for a bit.
Any other parents here getting kids ready for school, or having just done so?
I’m in school right now. A senior in highschool.
Currently struggling because I can’t keep my thoughts organized. I keep my problems under wrap but at times it becomes hard.
Is it a case of forgetting things you are supposed to be doing, not remembering facts when you need to, or something else? In any case, I take my hat off to you for powering through despite the obstacles. Tough row to hoe, that.
I can’t seem to always remember to do things, yeah. I also can’t keep my notes straight or anything. Surprisingly I haven’t gotten lost going to class.
I have that problem in two parts. First, I don’t remember to do things, then, when I do, the motivation to do them is difficult. I have set up an extensive Google Calendar system for myself. I have everything set in there from alerts for medications to “take shower”. And since I hardly ever go anywhere in my home without a tablet or my phone nearby, I get the alerts. I have tried to learn how to remember stuff for two decades with no luck. This workaround system lets me function well enough that I pass as normal.
Similar problem here. I find that using Google Drive helps a lot. I mean, a LOT. If something is important to me, I take a note on my Chromebook, which I carry around my home in the manner most carry journals. My Chromebook saves to Drive, which is searchable. If I’m having a bad day, I have the information to organize later when I’m feeling more up to it. Getting into the habit of noting down important info as it happens is the crucial bit.
Glad to hear that you have a way to get stuff done! For me I just write down everything I hear from the teacher. My U.S. Government notebook has some stuff written down more than once because I don’t always check to see if he already went over it or not.
Your life sounds pretty happy and fulfilling despite your illness! And you do well in your profession, you showed me your work and the book you published a while back.
I myself am a young adult getting myself ready for school, junior year of university, lol. I bring a thermos full of iced coffee, my nicotine gum, a granola bar, my gym bag with clothes, supplements, ipod, all of that stuff.
It’s rewarding to do well in college but man it has its moments where it truly challenges me in finals and midterms weeks. Last semester I had four finals within 24 hours!
But yeah I have class in two hours, I sign up for afternoon and night classes so I can sleep late. I will be bringing coffee and my huge water bottle today. I had to read half a novel for class today! Honors classes keep me busy. I have to take at least one each semester to keep my scholarship. I chose honors literary heritage for this semester. It’s enjoyable so far. Honors ancient world civilization last fall was not enjoyable, it was too intense and about my least favorite subject.
Honors abnormal psychology was the best class ever. I should teach that class one day, using me as an example for half of the disorders.
LOL mmort, you are awesome. to me, the ancient world is fascinating. But to each his/her own. But you can get me to visit the class if you teach it!! XD
I’m turning into a crufty older adult. Need to buy a cane so I can wave it at local youngsters and beller at them to get off my lawn.
Well, to be honest, the photography book was only done as a co-author as I needed to be bailed out. One of my more successful failures. Last time I try to work my life around a publisher’s schedule. Does bad things to my symptoms.
