Tonight is my first night in many months where I didn’t take Ativan and I feel like I’m dying. Can you die from withdrawal from benzos? I’m having heart palpitations, hyperventilating and insomnia. I should of never started this drug or took it long term.
You can actually die from withdrawl from benzos, yes. You should go to the er immediately and be seen by a doctor
Holy ■■■■ okay. I think I’m going to call 911
Benzo withdrawal can be deadly and should be weened off
I only have 19 tablets left, should I take one? Maybe I weened off too quickly.
@TheCanuk you’re not going to die. Just relax. What dosage are you on?
I would take the ativan. You should only go off benzos under supervision froma doctor. It is not at all likely you will die but I would still advise also going to the hospital
I would say take them as prescribed, and contact your Pdoc about coming off them
I’ve been on 1 mg only but before that I was on higher.
Take half a pill if you’re worried. That’s not a high enough dose that it’s going to kill you. Try to take some deep breaths and relax.
I’ve only been taking the 1 mg for 2-3 nights though, maybe I’m not ready to fully come off of it at the moment.
Split the pill in half for today and see what happens till tomorrow.
You won’t die but you should taper off slower
At that dose you wouldn’t die. People who abuse large amounts and then go cold turkey have a possibility of dying so it’s encouraged whenever you take a benzo to ween off of it. Talk to your doctor because with a mental illness you probably would be better off getting off of it in a detox facility.
How does it kill them though?
If you stop a benzo cold Turkey you could have seizures or cardiac problems. That is why it needs to be weaned off of under a doctor’s supervision.
Yes alcohol and benzodiazepines are the two drugs that you can die from during withdrawals from them.
Well that makes me feel calm… I think I might die.
But that’s rare and people who are abusing them. You’re doc should give you a tapering plan to make it less uncomfortable
Call for help then, please.
