My newspaper had a large frontpage article about the lack of good care for chronic psychiatric patients.
It said - again - that about half the people got a wrong diagnosis. Often people were diagnosed with sz when they actually were autistic and just getting psychotic because of being overwhelmed. Problems like trauma or addiction also went unrecognised mostly. Also other issues like with finances or housing.
These people need help in several areas of life, and with it 30% could recover. They dont because mental health organisations arent doing their jobs. Was the conclusion.
Many of the sample researched could do with much less meds than prescribed and thus much less side effect. People arent getting psychotherapy, where it could be helpful.
I have been shouting this at my pdocs for years and they declared me difficult and ill and crazy because of it.
Sorry for the frustration. But i think people should stand up for us.
