I timed twenty minutes of isometrics on my arms at a fairly strong pressure up and down with my arms…now they kind of hurt…hope I didn’t hurt myself…I’m just trying to get fast progress…I won’t do isometrics tomorrow, I skip a day before I do it again. I used to lifet weights that way back in the day…am I doing anything wrong ? @shutterbug
Going to the point of muscle failure and then giving yourself a break day is the recommended way to grow more muscle. You’re basically very mildly injuring your muscle and the muscle responds by repairing itself and then adding additional muscle to prevent the injury from reoccurring. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
yayy…I thought I was doing it correctly…thanks bud…
The people who jack steel hard every day are the ones doing it wrong. You can’t grow more muscle if you’re not giving it a chance to repair and rebuild.
Back when I used to weight lift I did 3 workouts a week with different muscle groups each session for about 45 minutes.
I had friends that worked out like 6 days a week but I was still bigger and stronger.
The rest days help you recover and build.
If your just getting back into exercise, ease in to it over a month or you will be so sore that you wont want to do it again lol
yes thank you @LevelJ1 I just won’t push so hard in isometric pressure anymore, just lots of light reps…my mom uses light barbells…something like that kind of pressure is what I am going for…right now I just want tone…I used to be a very active exerciser back before I got ill…250 push ups and the next day 250 set ups…yoga and exercise bike daily. broke the 250 up into 10 sets of 25.
Good on you for getting back to exercise
Seconding this as it’s a great way to up your quality of life. Well done, you.
wow, thanks you guys…I’m pretty happy atm.
No pain no gain!
250 push ups in a day and breaking it up like that is an awesome idea i reckon. I used to be able to do heaps too when i was skinny. Now im overweight and can hardly do any haha. I really want to get back into working out. Its a tough time to start at the moment because i feel so sedated from meds after a recent med change. Seeing pdoc about it in a week.
Anyway, its awesome your getting into exercise. Your post inspired me.
