I entered therapy as an inarticulate teenager. But after decades of sitting in such sessions, I have learned a thing or two about saying what I want to say.

I also adapt my wording depending on who I am talking to.
I remember this ass in high school who would use extensive vocabulary all the time and then would always correct our grammar or pronunciation or definition of the word.

Hey @anon39015889 . Things are lekker here man. We had lots of summer rainfall and the dams are overflowing.
We had lots of tourists for the holiday season but things are returning to normal now with the schools starting on Wednesday.
How are things there by you in Namibia?

I used to be. well spoken. Years of living near people who are, in the main, good but not well spoken people has roughened things a bit.
I can be well spoken most times. I donāt really like public speaking but Iām actually not too bad at it. I can get by and I talk constantly. I think a lot of people think I talk too much.

Sometimes? Speaking with someone face to face, it depends on who Iām talking to and what the subject is. Also, some days are better than others.
I think my writing is more eloquent as I have more time to consider my answers.
In person I cannot strike up a conversation unless I know you well.
Strangers who talk to me about my dog in the street I find hard to engage with
My step dad takes the piss out of me for it, and puts me under pressure when I donāt talk to people properly.
Itās like 34 years now, I think I have passed the point of learning how to socialise with other peopleā¦

He isnāt.
I used to date a guy who used a lot of fancy, long words for things that could have easily been said with more common words.
He would get huffy and annoyed if people didnāt understand him, in an āIām surrounded by idiotsā manner.
He would also often boast his 130-something IQ and claim he didnāt have patience for stupid people.
Yeah okay I donāt care if someoneās IQ is over 9000, if they canāt communicate in a way people understand, that doesnāt say good things about their intelligence.

Oddly enough, I sometimes speak better than type. I tend to think through what i am saying unless with friends, then Iām more laid back.

I donāt know if Iām well spoken or not. Maybe be sometimes but idk a lot of big words.

I have difficulty writing and speaking, but speaking is much more difficult, the mind is more blank when speaking
