Are you an immigrant where you are? First or second generation?

My mum is German, moved to uk in 1968
My father is English

I was aware that Germany was the most hated country when I was young or just before I was born

I wanted my mum to be from a different more beautiful country like Spain or something

Immigration is a problem at the minute here
Unsustainable numbers
It’s been incredibly dramatic seeing all the polish shops close after brexit vote
I think people now don’t feel welcome

I think it’s a joke leaving the EU

My dad is Dutch, was born in the Hague and emigrated to South Africa in 1952 when he was 12. His mom was German and his dad Dutch.

My mom is Afrikaans - mainly from Dutch settlers coming here to SA in 1600’s or 1700’s

Fourth generation American on my dad’s side. My grandpa couldn’t speak English until the second grade. My great grandmother would speak Finnish to me all the time. On my mom’s side there is Native American, Norwegian, and German immigrants from four generations ago. Can still see the Lakota in my mom a bit.

We migrated from Denmark to Norway when I was little, then I moved back to Denmark at 20, and moved to Greece 6 months ago.
So I guess you can call me an immigrant, yes.

My father was a Mexican immigrant to the U.S. who signed on to join the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a lifer in the Army who went on to fight in the Vietnam War as well. He was in the Special Forces 82nd Airborne in Vietnam. He was a sniper. He retired after 20 years as a CW3 Commissioned Warrant Officer.

I guess that makes me first generation? Or second?

My mother was a little, white, farm girl from rural Blair, Nebraska. She went on to become the supervisory social worker at State of Nebraska Social Services Department.
