Are these hallucinations?

I’ve had my fair share of straight up hallucinations (seeing and hearing things where there is nothing)
BUT I also have weird occurances where something is there, technically, but I see something drastically different.
For example I see a lot of animal faces in every day objects if there’s some type of vague face shape in it, like holes for eyes and whatnot. But for a second I see a relatively detailed animal until I look again and it’s gone.
One time I saw a nut cracked in the corner of my eye (which was real) but it turns into this big demon face.
So are these illusions, hallucinations, both?

I heard these things you’re describing are called illusions yeah, but I don’t know much about them @Moon

It’s confusing to say the least @_@ but I know they get way worse during a psychotic episode.

Definitely hallucinations that transformed from reality. I think I’ve experienced something similar before, it helps me to recognize my mind is trying to interpret something, scary at times, but ultimately it’s not really there.

It could ba hallucinations but also could be your neuron activation. People have “grandmother cells” which make you see faces on objects. It is an evolutionary mechanism which enable you get support from other people by making you perceive human’s faces. It is very common! I used to identify faces on random patterns all the time. :grinning:

I know some of them are probably that but the ones that become highly realistic are what confuses me most, you know? Illusions are strange
