I’ve had a terrifically bad cough for the past couple of weeks. I am coughing up phlem, and I am so short winded it’s crazy. I actually start to get winded just walking across my room. Those are symptoms of Covid, but I took the Abbot antigen test for Covid and it came back negative. The cough could be because I keep three cats in my room. It could be cat dander causing my cough. Can anyone enlighten me on this situation?
I can’t type out a link yet, but google the article posted January 7 2022, “Here’s When You Should Take a PCR or a Rapid Antigen Test” by Healthline. When I test I have only tested with the PCR but that is because there is no hope of getting an antibody test around me. (Hopefully I can post that since I can’t post links yet)
What color is your phlegm?
Is it yellow or green?
My father has Covid and he’s got a cough with yellowish phlegm.
I think this is normal for Covid.
My antigen test came out negative but my fathers came out positive.
A lot of false negative test results are reported with antigen tests.
You may still have Covid
They’re not that reliable, especially if you swabbed your nose instead of your throat. Throat swabs are most accurate with Omicron. Nose swabs can produce false negatives more easily.
