Are avoltion and apathy permanent?

hi i was ill.right now im ok.all my delusions have gone now.right now theres avoltion n amotivation.i reduced the medication dosage to low dosage.is this avoltion chronic or can be improved by any means?

Did you lower your meds with your psychiatrist’s approval or instructions? You’re describing negative symptoms, and they’re very hard to treat even with today’s antipsychotics. For some people, antidepressants, especially stimulating ones like Lexapro (escitalopram) are helpful.

yes pdoc instructed me tor reduce.thanks for helping me

I was pretty stuck in the mud for a while after getting on Risperdal, then Geodon, then Seroquel. But as the following psychotherapies began to “take hold,” the doc was able to reduce my anti-P dose levels over time. No avolition problems now.

I did most of them with inexpensive workbooks, btw.
