Are average schizos who are prone to violence, more likely to be violent than the average person who is prone to violence?

they say that schizos are not more frequently violent, compared to a normal person. but ive heard that when they have violent tendencies, that it’s worse than the average person. is this true? kinda like a quantity versus quality of violence

Kind of a tautology there in the thread title. I think II understand your question. I’m prone to violence. I’d say I’m no more prone to violence than a neurotypical who is prone to violence is.

I’m not more violent than neurotypicals. The only thing with me is that if someone starts a fight and I think I’m legitimately in danger, I’ll finish it. I’m not in good enough shape to run away, which means I’ll damage you enough that I can WALK away. (I really know how to use leverage and nearby hard surfaces.)

The data I’ve seen says we’re less prone to violence than the general population.

I am not violent at all on meds anymore. Off meds its another story. Here we had many horrible murders done by schizophrenics. I think they were probably unmedicated. I think neurotypicals who are criminals like gangs/mafia do crime for some benefits like drugs, money, etc Idk about schizophrenics who are criminals like those in gangs, mafia, etc

Off meds, I am definitely more violence prone than your average, neurotypical, older female. But while on meds, I’m as gentle as a newborn lamb. And that’s why I always take my meds religiously.

I am really irritable off meds. I don’t think I’m prone to violence though. However, I met some other people with sz that were. So, to each his own. I’m so small that a flea jumping around and causing havoc is rather laughable, and I don’t suck blood so I am quite harmless.

When I don’t take my medication, I am certainly prone to physical and verbal abuse. I become very irritable and very agitated. The smallest thing can set me off. It is not my better side, that’s for sure. Not sure where I rank in terms of neurotypicals being violent.

I read a statistic one time in a schizophrenia magazine that it is more possible to be struck by lightning than be harmed or killed by a schizophrenic.

I think us sz folks have poorer impulse control.
So if two people have violent impulses and one has sz, I think the one with sz is more likely to act on them.

Also, we tend to get adrenaline rushes from paranoia and perceived danger.

I never was violent.
I am not violent as schizophrenic.
But i have violent thoughts and voices.

When I’m ill I have violent inserted thoughts, but although they are strong and disturb me, I’ve never acted on them. But unmedicated I get very agitated and angry, and self harm
