Poop Cruise is a documentary regarding the 2013 cruise of the Carnival Triumph.
There was a fire in the Triumph’s engine room which the crew was able to extinguish, but the damage was done. The fire resulted in a complete loss of electricity. Thus no propulsion, no lights, no air conditioning, no ability to cook food, --and no ability to flush the toilets.
I wouldn’t want to be on a cruise ship even when the plumbing is working because they are floating petri dishes. Remember the norovirus outbreaks? Hat tip to the cruise industry for adjusting their sanitation protocols right down to changing out the fabric seating on ships to easy to sanitize vinyl and the way their buffets are configured to limit spread. There are still outbreaks even with that.
I remember when COVID first appeared and it was going through cruise ships like a knife through hot butter while dropping seniors like flies. They weren’t leaving their cabins and still getting sick. As someone who follows public health as a hobby and who is familiar with how cruise ships work, I immediately knew COVID wasn’t a surface spreader. I was shouting “IT’S FXXXING AIRBORNE!” at the TV many evenings while public health officials speculated on how people were catching it. How did those idiots become doctors? Ay ay ayyyyy.
