Anyone know how to make coffee with this?

I have been cleaning my kitchen cupboards as they have not been done since I moved in.

I found this:

Anyone know what it’s called and whether the coffee tastes better with it?

I’ve seen this before don’t know how to make it sorry but if you find out let me know. I want to my own equipment to make coffee. My goal is to have my own grinder.

Do you put normal coffee granules in it or do you need some special type?

Regular coffee will work but it’s best with a coarse grind

I have never bought that before.

Is it like half cut coffee beans??

There is a coffee shop near by that sells lots of different types.

Shame it’s shut because of this virus thing

Yes a real fine grind will go through the press and get into your cup.

The coffee looks like it is done brewing before it is actually done.

I think I might give it to charity.

I don’t like strong coffee and this seems like someone more sophisticated would use.

I bet the coffee beans for it will be expensive too!

Shame the charity shops will be shut. I hope they get help from the government

We just call it plunger coffee. Some decent finely ground coffee. Does the business.

You can buy course ground coffee from the grocery store for cheap. If your grocery store has the machine where you can grind your own, there’s a dial in it and you can select how you want your beans ground. I use coarse ground for cold brew and that’s where I get mine.

I’m a k-cup user instead as are my kids since we all prefer different flavors, blends, hot cocoa, and cappuccinos. I haven’t brewed an actual pot of coffee since 2008 when Grama decided to make gallons of homemade Starbucks cold frappe jar crap. Wait, I made it, cause she never learned how to read a recipe. That’s why she had my Papa, he cooked for her until he got sick then we dropped life and came out there.

But anyway, I was gonna say that our grocery stores have walled off the grinders for bean coffee until all this is over. I guess they decided to trash the 25 types they had too, which at 7.99 a pound at a minimum, ouch. And that’s the store I went to which is the lower end, the others from what my brother says is that their minimum is 10.99 a pound, and they trashed theirs too.

So if you’re making a special trip for bulk coffee to grind, call ahead first.

French press coffee is the best coffee in the world. Every time I have had one of the best cups of coffee I have ever had it has come out of one of these.

I have one of these since it tucks up nicely into a cabinet. I don’t like things on my counter. It makes good coffee. Really good coffee. And I use the cheap grocery store stuff in a bag. The same kind you would put in a regular coffeemaker. It comes out great.

If you don’t like your coffee strong I would pick up a bag of light roast and start with half of the recommended amount of grounds for your press. Add more as you see fit. Makes for a less intense brew.

My only complaint with my press is that it’s a pain to clean. You absolutely need to take apart the plunger. It will get moldy and funky if you try to clean it like it’s one big piece. I know it looks like it doesn’t come apart but it does. I normally just rinsing the plunger parts separately after each use with hot water. soap it up after 2 or 3 uses. The glass part can be cleaned like you would a regular cup. With soap. After each use.

Oh and you can use the coffee grounds for compost! I say give it a go before donating. If it still is t your thing, charity shops will take it then too.

French Press is the only way I’ll drink black coffee. Tastes wonderful. And most coffee shops are more than happy to sell you a bag of course grind.
