I have severe asthma. I used to get an asthma attack just from unloading the dryer. Or if I pet the cat.

Now, I’m on allergy shots, which has drastically helped the allergy side of my asthma.

I still have problems with exertion, though. I can’t run or jog. I can go hiking, but I have to use my rescue inhaler multiple times.

When I’m having a flare-up, I can’t even walk the dog around the neighborhood. I’d be wheezing and short of breath only 5 minutes away from my house.

I’m on the strongest maintenance inhaler + the rescue inhaler + rescue nebulizer machine.

Thank you for sharing
I’m hoping mine can’t be classed as severe
I wonder if you can see if this feels like it to you

I remember 10 years ago I ran 10 miles in the cold and began coughing like crazy
That was new
Since forever I’ve been non effectively clearing my throat all the time

I had cracked glass opacity but that cleared up

If I walk up the ramp to my place Sometimes I can’t talk and I’m breathless and feel a bit faint
Other times I can walk a few miles with no problem
It’s not daily that I have that out of breath but frequently

Been diagnosed with a cat allergy but very Mild
I don’t know if it’s now worse but one of the 2 cats climbed on my chest and I got a tight chest but obvs that could just be the pressure

Then went to bed (where they are every night) and couldn’t sleep because I was breathing a bit fast

I’ve been tested and treated for low thyroid and low iron

Had a heart echocardiogram
All negative and fine
Been looking for a reason for all this for 10 years
Not sure if I need an active representative in stupid gp appointments

I’m young now but I had it when I was even younger. I always dumped the treatment medicine out.:joy::point_right::innocent:

That seems like pretty good news that all you have is asthma. Awesome sauce!

It could be asthma. It sounds similar to what I experience, on a smaller scale, maybe.

Can you get in to see a pulmonologist and have breathing tests done? I can’t remember what the test is called, but there is a breathing machine that they use to diagnose asthma and also use it to see how bad it is.

Thank you x
I am doing a regular peak flow the one that you can use at home with a cardboard tube for a week or two
Blood tests for thyroid and anaemia repeat
I’m going to call in the morning and ask again
Tonight really feels like a progressive thing

But I have low thyroid hormones and low iron levels and asthma I suppose
Unless it’s something else again

If you smoke it can cause breathing problems.

I have adult onset asthma. It’s mild. I mean I’m always a little wheezy but it doesn’t always shut of my airflow. I keep my rescue inhaler with me just in case but I rarely need it. I can walk a fast mile without an attack usually.

I used to have moderate asthma. I see it as a blessing in disguise. Because it meant that I couldn’t get the flu shot an experimental one that I would have been paid for.
