I bought this Apple MacBook Air 5 months ago. I set up my email but then made an error somehow with the password. Now for the past 4 months I haven’t been able to get into my email account. I’ve tried to reset the password at least 20 times but it won’t let me. And I’ve filled out the account recovery form at least 25 times but Microsoft denies me access. Anyone else have this specific problem? What did you do?
I called Apple tech support and they couldn’t do any more than I’ve already done myself. I bought the laptop at Best Buy so I called the Geek Squad but they couldn’t help me. They said call Microsoft.
I looked up and called Microsoft tech support but they only do tech support through online chat now. I’m stumped. I’ve been using my old Dell exclusively to get my emails but it’s literally physically falling apart. I need to get my email working on my MacBook before my Dell disintegrates. I can’t get past this account recovery form though. Any suggestions?
I am not sure how Apple works btw and im not familiar with outlook but the ideas behind email and operating systems and browsers are the same.
First try a different browser for your mac, maybe moziila which is a good one
you can try to sign in with a QR code if that is possible with outlook
Or save the login information on your laptop browser (mozila has this function) and use the same browser on the mac
If the password is the problem change it from the laptop
If you have two factor authentication on your email or phone authentication that might be the problem but dont deactivate it. Just make sure you have access to the 2 factor authentication method
One thing i would try is to generate some sign in codes on the laptop and use them instead of the password when you login into mac.
I would gladly help you step by step on every one of those methods.
Ive done that and yes its a right PIA. Next time link it up to an Authenicator App as a backup on your phone, that way you can get back in with the generated code.
Speaking as a former Outlook admin (older versions, mind you) this is a classic authentication issue that can only be fixed from Microsoft’s side. No point making any changes to your Mac, that’s not the cause of the issue. You’ll need to set up a new account as MS will get back to you sometime never… Do like Seth side and configure multi-factor authentication so you can be texted a code or such to avoid being locked out again.
