Anyone else get scared at night?

It seems like my delusions and hallucinations get worse the darker it gets in the day.

I forgot the name of this syndrome, or whatever you call it.

I’m the same way.

At night things always get worse,

Then I get anxious because I know I’m losing sleep time,

Compounding the whole cycle.

Thank you for the reply.

I’m sorry you go through similar things with the symptoms and all.

Do your dogs/and husband comfort you at all?

I live alone with my cat. :cat:

NOT AT ALL.

I thought they would, but they really just make it worse.

My dogs are pretty high strung, so they get all barky about a fly on the wall.

Every time they start staring at thin air or getting all puffed up, I freak out.

I also have these intrusive thoughts about killing my husband, and I worry losing my mind and accidentally actually doing it.

So, indirectly, he makes it worse.

I sleep better alone.

Isn’t that messed up?

I have terrible intrusive thoughts sometime, but not about hurting anyone. That is if I have the proper understanding of what intrusive thoughts are.

Sorry to hear your dogs are high strung. Sometimes my cat will stare at random things in space, like he is following something with his eyes.

It so freaks me out! :persevere:

I hate that.

These animals! I love them, but sometimes they definitely make things harder.

We just have to remember that they hear all sorts of weird, yet totally normal, non-supernatural things.

Like the water running through pipes, heater clicking on, moths buzzing around, all that crap.

I mean, I tell myself that, but every time there’s a strange noise I think its Satan.

Oh the joys of nighttime…

It’s kinda funny, right before I read your reply my cat was staring out the window.

But yeah, it is probably light reflections, car noises, and all the stuff you said.

I think the devil is busy with other things, like influencing the stock market.

(Lame joke - sorry).

Can I get a treat for effort? Slice of pizza, perhaps?

I think the same thing.

Whenever my thoughts get dark and I start feeling like Satan is right behind me,

I think, no, why would an ancient, all knowing being hang around just to make me nervous?

Surely, the devil is busy receiving blowjobs from Donald Trump for at least the next few years, so I guess we can all try to relax.

See? I one up-ed your lame joke and made it pervy!

Yea, for me!!

LOL! Ok, now YOU deserve the treat.

On the house ma’am: :pizza:

My paranoia ramps up at night.
I sleep with the TV on.
Every little noise in the house freaks me out!

Yeah I understand and empathize @Wave. I have to sleep with the radio on.

Sorry to hear that @Lost.

Is there anything you can do at night that comforts you?

Like reading a holy book, or reading in general? Or listening to music on headphones?

I listen to music on headphones a lot at night, I find it helps.

Haven’t found anything yet bro. May try music. It doesn’t happen all the time but I worry about it

I understand. I find listening to oldies radio at night helps me a lot. Oldies music tends to be fairly uplifting and light-hearted.

A lot of oldies stations have cool shows on sunday nights too.

I use to have nightmares of ppl killing me for no reason.

Yeah that’s pretty rough. Keep your head up bro.

You too bro. U think they’ll ever find a cure for sz?

Thank you.

Hmmm. Not sure. I don’t mean to be pessimistic, but I think in my lifetime there will probably be some breakthrough research as to what causes it, instead of a total cure.

This research will probably in turn lead to us having better support from the public, and overall better coping mechanisms.

As for a cure, I’m still unsure though.

It’s a mystery even to us, what these voices and delusions are.
