I have a lot of personal rituals I observe, also I watch certain events, what I see to be signs, also some types of natural events… anybody out there?
I’m looking at the astrological aspects frequently.
I just broke free from a 5 year long compulsion. It was a med that I was already taking that we just increased the dose that finally helped me break free. I’m over the moon. I typically have one or two obsessions or compulsions going on at any given time but I’m trying to think, I think I’m good right now. Feels good, light and airy, not bogged down with having to do certain things.
Every day during the night I go to the backyard and watch the stars. It’s very calming. Once every few weeks I see shooting stars, I know they’re comets but it’s cool to see them. Also sometimes I can hear thunder from the lightning at the beach and even see flashes of light. But that happens more rarely.
I think noticing patterns that seem to coincide into some cosmic reason for things happening might be part of the illness. I think even neurotypical people have some strange beliefs sometimes. Don’t worry about it too much. There’s an end of the world movement every decade or so but the world has not ended yet.
Thank you so much! The things: the number 4, each event in sequence, even the patterns of birds flights, can have some significance - for instance birds flying in a circle “8” pattern always portends a heavy psychic or metaphysical event, not always bad, 3 good events in a row can portend favor and so on, the number 4 is bad luck because in Chinese and Korean the word is sih, the same word as for death, so for instance ‘94’ could be “dead a long time”. On the other hand seeing my favorite small birds first thing in the morning, usually means my day will be good. Yeh I know this all sounds like straitjacket time, but long as I watch it, things are fine.
I do numerology, too.
Only in sport. Cricket is a game for the superstitious. I bat odd numbers in the batting order. I do poorly with even ones and usually take the first ball so am first in book. I put my pads on same way every time…lots of little things to get me by but it’s a common thing with sports like cricket to have some hangups or rituals.
I mostly practice mindfulness and self-care. Writing down some goals or things I want to accomplish, its not always good to be positive I guess you have to be realistic too.
Certain numbers jump out at me. Mostly prime numbers, like 11 and 17. If I see the number 17, it’s going to be a good day.
I remember reading on one site that the number 13 actually isn’t unlucky, it simply means hard work and slow progress. And nobody likes that, so they label it bad. Make of it what you will
Commercials usually are sending me messages that’s why I don’t watch TV a lot.
I do repetitive movements with my hands and toes. I also rock. I want to stop but I haven’t been able to
I think my only ritual is my morning coffee.
“17”
Seventeen!
Before I started medication, I believed the colours of the cars I was following in traffic signified whether I had been doing the right thing or not recently. I had similar thoughts of the colour of clothes people wear signifying their spiritual energy.
It is one of my warning signs actually. If I start noticing these things I know I’m not doing well.
I can see signs whereever I look sometimes. Could be anywhere, along with ones others mentioned.
When I go to my local supermarket I nearly always walk the same way, even if I know a shorter route to what I know I want to get.
