Depends on the definition of the term. Almost everybody owns something material be it a car, a house, a collection of trinkets or whatnot.
I think the true definition of a materialist in the modern world is someone who is very attached to their belongings and unable to give anything away.
I guess most of us are materialist to some extent. If we lost our home, most of us would take it badly for instance. But people who are unable to throw anything away or give anything away are maybe those who are defined as very materialistic.
I think I am somewhere in between. Much of my stuff like furniture and clothes are bought second hand but I do like them, and I have a hobby collecting and watching films. Although i do give them away if they are not my kind of movie.
Nope, im not a materialist, i think everything is due to physical things / objects interacting with people interacting with people, their views on the physical stuff and the perspective on each other in one integrated grit.
