I can pick and choose what news I get…mainly on facebook feeds on my party’s posts…
I watch CNN all day and all night long.
I’m obsessed.
I watch the news, mostly on in the background in the morning, kinda tune out the stuff I don’t like
The news pisses me off. I don’t want to hear it. I hear enough whining about “star wars is sjw propaganda” on youtube.
I have to mentally prepare myself to listen to the news beforehand. So, if I’m on facebook or the internet, I avoid the news until I feel cocooned in rationality and in an upbeat mood before trekking into news space. I just keep scrolling and don’t stop if it’s news.
Then, when I read the news, I am prepared.
If I don’t get that mental time out time to prepare myself, I get anxiety. Like one day I came home the week I was expecting an amazon package and I was like Alexa (I have the Alexa, Echo dot from amazon), what’s my notification? I had forgotten I enabled Washington Post skills and she went and told me something about nuclear war threats being made when I was thinking she was like, your package will be delivered by the end of the day…and my heart jumped through my throat and practically fell out!
I quit asking what my notifications were after that…she’s still lighting up green from the backed-up news notifications! True story
Not sure I’m ready for that kinda stuff
I watch, read or listen to news report almost everyday. Mostly I listen to local news about city council governance, schools, hospitals, community, environment, law, weather. I don’t like the news about war or politics.
Yes, it’s most def has a 1984-esque vibe to it but i love it.
I told my coworkers about the alexa and he was like pfft never getting that, once I mentioned the 9 microphone situation lol
What is sjw?..
Men are more interested in war & politics whereas women are interested in fashion, beauty & entertainment news.
sjw = social justice warrior
someone on the left side of the political spectrum that believes in social justice for those who have not received any
those on the alt-right like to group them all together and say they are dangerous individuals when they have a broad range of actions that don’t (and from the ones ive met) include violence
I’m sorry. The news is fake garbage intended to mean whatever you think it means.
It’s positive to remain skeptical about some news stories. You can’t believe everything you read. But some news stories such as Roger Federer winning the 2018 Aussie Open or Trump’s State of the Union address is legitimate.
I like science news and animal news… i also enjoy a Chinese news source it has some political posts but they dont play the smear game like most of mericas news outlets…
Oh, I hate the news… I hate the television in general… I hate advertisements…
I like music… cause it’s part distraction for myself… but also a partial mask and shield to allow me to think behind.
TV has too much information. It’s really meant to try and grab all of your focus and entertain you.
I can’t believe it’s considered a natural and healthy device to have around… but that’s how far out there I am.
I spend about a million hours of the day on a computer… but I am learning a whole lot and dealing in things that are more interactive…
The only gross element of it… knowing that a lot of people just forgo the tv and actually choose to live out there. It is considered an essential part of a household.
I mean I’ll have tvs… but I’ll never watch cable. There isn’t a shred of me that sees the benefits outweighing the negatives… Perhaps I’ll find friends in life who aren’t so afraid to just turn the damn thing off.
movies are still cool…
Sure, there’s a lot of bad news on TV, but there’s also a lot of good news. I’m not going to let the bad news deter me from seeing the good news.
I honestly wonder if people will watch a news channel that is 100% good news. People say they want to see good news, but do they really? If there’s money to be made in good news, why isn’t there a good-news channel?
Who’s really wagging who?
I can watch news on the tv because I think I can communicate with the speakers. I can’t read newspapers because I get codes and messages in the writing I find it unbearable.
I don’t own a TV.
The world is a ■■■■■■ up place, and we’re destroying it, more and more everyday; I just don’t care to hear about it. Existence is miserable enough already, without all that in my head.
I do the very best I can for the planet and creatures that reside, and that’s all I can do.
I can’t watch TV at all. It triggers intrusive thoughts and paranoia. It started out when watching the news and some types of films, and then it just escalated over the years.
