Any modern hip hop/ rap fans?

I listen to

The Roots
Kendrick
Logic
Russ
Iamsu!
…and others.

I am looking for modern artists, specifically ones that have high musical quality and not just meaningless bragging lyrics.

I like the roots and Kendrick. I’ve also liked j. Cole’s last 2 albums, Lupe fiasco’s last album was pretty impressive, and I think all 3 run the jewels albums are dope. All these artists rap about social and political issues, as well as some regular just good ass rapping.

rappers that rap about real problems have my respect. ill listen to them even if their beats are weak. I like Common and Mos Def a lot.

Closest thing I’ve listened to is bts.

I forgot Vic mensa, who put out a dope ass EP this past year, and I’ve heard some mixtapes from people like nick grant, spark master tape, chance the rapper, and Dave east that have been pretty good.

I didn’t like Cole until “2014 Forrest hills drive” LP. That and his latest I really got into, but his older stuff was meh to me

I just remember freshman year of high school when J Cole’s “Workout” was popular. From then on his voice was like a knife in my chest every time i heard it. lol

Immortal Technique is dope. it gives me a taste of what other peoples lives are like. I grew up in a rich white town with a bunch of spoiled lazy brats as my peers. Technique shows me that there is a world outside of my hometown.

I listened to his “Dance w the Devil” as a young kid and felt moved even though i didn’t understand the lyrics back then

■■■■ I almost forgot big k.r.i.t. he’s from Mississippi and does all his own beats, I’ve never been disappointed by his work, especially his last album, “cadillactica.”

@Nomad

Have you heard any of the songs off Macklemore’s album This Unruly Mess I’ve Made ? I thought you might like that album because it has several songs about real problems.

Listen to Aesop Rock. He’s really poetic.

Oh i listened to his album yesterday! His voice is meh to me but i like his lyrics

Check out Cormega. He’s the realist rapper I know of. From Queens. One of Nas’s peeps.
Also Capone N Noriega

I really haven’t heard any modern rap lately. I’m still hooked on Tech Nine, Insane Clown Posse, and some Christian inspired rap.
