Estonia gained its independence from the USSR 30 years ago. I would like to visit Estonia one day, maybe after this corona pandemic.
It could be a good opportunity to learn Estonian although I would think that they might use English too because the English language is universal in the computer world. Estonian is similar to Finnish and for me it would not be too hard to learn Estonian. There is also the aspect of gaining some overseas and foreign relations experience.
I’ve been to Estonia.
The ones I met were really refreshingly nice and embracing
Did you travel in any other European countries? I have not yet visited Estonia although it is just a short distance from Helsinki. Maybe I visit one day, although I am quite tired of traveling because I traveled a lot when I was younger.
Me too. I love Estonia.
They are also blazing a new path with regards to cybersecurity and how many things us Americans have to do in-person that the Estonians can do online, which is, again, due to their lead in cybersecurity.
You should go! (If circumstances permit)
I want to go to England, Scotland and France one day because that is my mixed heritage. I’ve read about all 3 places, seen pictures, etc… but I’d like to actually go and see some of the historical sites in real life. Unfortunately I can’t afford a large trip like that.
I was born In Germany and I lived there for 7 years. It was so different to where I live now in the UK.
For example walking through a corn field to get to school in Germany
which is your favourite country you visited in Europe?
I like many countries. When I still studied in Finland in the 1980s I visited Paris, London, Moscow and Leningrad. I liked all these big cities. Of course, now Leningrad is Saint Petersburg. I have never visited Russia because it was the Soviet Union when I was there. I have visited many other EU cities too. Of course, I like Finland a lot, but there are cities and nations where I would like to visit such as Berlin and many Eastern European nations. My first UK trip was when I was 16 years old in 1984. I participated in the Rotary Club’s youth program and I stayed three weeks in Devon. When I lived in the States I traveled to many different countries, I liked my Jamaica trips a lot. I visited Jamaica three times. Driving a car in Venezuela’s rainforest was an experience. So to conclude, I like many countries.
wow you have an impressive travel history, i did not know just how extensive it was.
what did you think of london?
i know that place
I liked London. I have been there three times. Once when I lived in America I took a flight from Atlanta to London and I stayed a few days in London before continuing my trip to Marseille, France. In 1997 I was there (London) with my girlfriend one week. It was nice to visit many places in Soho and I went to the City too.
I have travelled in 35 different nations and 35 different US states. This was when I was young and I wanted to see the world. In addition, after my divorce in America I lived over two years in my car primarily in Miami and Southern Florida, but I also drove across the USA from Miami to LA/SF, CA and back twice. I also smoked a cigar next to the statue of George Washington near the NYC stock exchange just 10 months before the 911 event. I did travel a lot when I was young.
Should have been 1987, I made an error. Anyway London is a very multicultural center with millions of people.
London is very nice but there seems to be crime every day. I even witnessed it.
And it feels overpopulated to me.
It’s cool how much travelling you’ve done.
