Any advice on my identity being stolen?

I filled a police report with the city police department, and the Officer listed me as the victim. I found an Identity Theft Affidavit at the IRS website. The manager at my apartment building told me to file a fraud report with the state unemployment office.

So far I have only checked with Social Security and my information with them hasn’t been altered. I don’t know what to do if the unemployment was claimed in another state.

Any advice you have would be appreciated.

Your US so have no knowledge. But the basic advice i use, is keep your digital footprint on the internet to a minimum. Dont declare your life history on social media sites like facebook, and when you shop online, dont save your credit card information “for later use”.

And obviously - dont use just the one password for your banking, gaming accounts etc.

I was thinking about this too the other day.

I’m going to the bank for advice about identity fraud.

I think there’s some way they can provide guidance.

Not sure about usa

Freeze your credit with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Also, freeze credit with short-term loan credit bureaus such as DataX. You can remove the freezes any time you want, but keep in mind that you will not be able to apply for credit with the freezes on.

Also, I think it’s worth getting identity protection like Norton.

I see commercials for this organization all the time on TV. Maybe you could call an organization like that and see what they have to say.
