It seems that the number of negative symptoms is a significant factor.
My long list of meds that failed…my pdocs anger that I never improved on their Rx.

I don’t have much in the way of negative symptoms. I have a giant delusion that is just as big today as it was at onset. I take meds primarily to prevent psychotic episodes. I was taking meds during my last psychotic break so I dunno if they are even helping with that. Basically, I am not convinced I wouldn’t be the same without meds but I take them anyway, out of fear.
I have almost every negative symptom in the book. Been having them since the onset. Other people with schizophrenia are able to study, work, exercise, have relationships and so on. I can’t do any of that. Yet I haven’t found even one genetic study about negative symptoms. Attempts to identify biomarkers have yielded some results but nothing conclusive and immediately treatable. I am disappointed but not discouraged.
