Is it possible for skype to be anonymous?

I have skype now and i think it is anonymous but not 100% sure

would you use skype if you thought it was safe or are you scared?

i’m a bit of a scaredy cat about it but i think i could ease into it maybe, as long as it was safe,

i’d start by talking without the camera and then if i felt comfortable i may feel confident enough to put it on. idk.

what do you think?

A company wanted to interview me via Skype and I wouldn’t do it. They called me instead. I didn’t get the job.

I believe someone started a similar site that did exactly this, and it was quickly overrun by exhibitionists masturbating on camera to total strangers.

Keep in mind there is no such thing as being ‘anonymous’ on the internet, and you wont ever be surprised.

I use skype and FB messenger for video chat, I once got a skype virus, killed my computer years ago, so I’m careful who I add, I talk to my old neighbors that moved away on it.

I skype people I know are ok that I’m acquainted with online, sometimes text, once video. I haven’t run into any problems but it’s people I’ve chatted with for a while or people in out circle.

are you talking about chat roulette? i don’t like that video website bc its really random and you get a lot of assholes on it, like when i did it i got mostly bad videos and even though you can skip the bad ones, they are mostly bad and awkward, anyway it started to get me panicky so i stopped that.

@Csummers i believe it is possible to be anonymous online

omg Hell no!

I only chat with people I know or met. Most chatspaces are rubbish. We had one here for years but it degenerated into a free for all that needed moderation. That was ok but the moderators became part of the problem.

As @Ninjastar points out. It becomes a seriously toxic place where dickpics are common.

In my honest opinion. Chats need moderation but by punters themselves. It works well for these boards but it wasn’t used in the old chatspace. Dickpics would have been welcomed there in the end over the banality of poor moderation.
