Ambiguity in self-classification of ancestry and its problem with disease risk

Well for one thing you don’t know if your ancestors were faithful to each other or not. I used to think I was part Cherokee but my results said I was just white. I looked up my relatives and the relative who we thought was part Cherokee was essentially the product of a shot gun wedding. The only way that relative could have been part Cherokee was if my Great-grandfather was not the father. My Dad late in life said he doubted that was the case.
