Am I losing too much weight?

The scales are still falling. I am happy to be a healthier weight now, but I was not sure if it was unhealthy to lose so much?

I was weighed for my health check in January and I was 96 kilos.

Since then I am now 71 kilos, and probably losing a kilo every week two weeks? (Rough guess)

The thing is I thought that now I am doing a manual labour job, and exercising at the gym swimming I would build muscle, but no.

Wow that’s really good.

My psychiatrist said that you shouldn’t lose more than 2 kilos every month.

@zeno and @Joker both in Europe and up at 5.30 am. What is wrong with us? :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s is a very good question! I have been getting up at this time for about a week now.

I kinda like it. I can drink coffee and smoke cigarettes and do some admin before I go to work

i often wake up at around 4am, have a cup of tea and then meditate for 30mins. I usually pop back to bed unless I have something on my mind.

So I am ok with what I have lost, as it would be about 2.5 a month?

I think it’s good you’re losing weight. As long as it’s not being caused by a health condition, you should be happier it’s happening because it will do good. Weight loss is generally good for the body!

I just wasn’t sure because I do a physical job, shouldn’t I be putting on more weight in muscle?

Yeah, you should be converting some of that weight to muscle (I know converting isn’t the correct terminology but for simplicities sake, it is conversion).

Are you sure it’s not hiding beneath whatever mass you do have? Often that’s the case. If you’re a smoker this is quite common (least I read that somewhere )

I am skinny now. I am a smoker. It’s just I don’t think it’s a good thing not to have muscles when you do a physically demanding job, as surely this means that you’re going to be not strong enough to do the work and maybe it will just strain my body

The part about strain is true and a legitimate concern. But as you’re a smoker you’ll be used to lower energy levels than if you weren’t one because your body isn’t used to any better. But for health’s sake, stopping it is better and for sake of building muscle? Yeah, by a long run it’d help.
