I have an interview for a university access course on Tuesday. I have a D in GCSE maths and the website says that you need a C but you can take the GCSE course again alongside your course if not. I got a call from the interviewer a couple of days ago, the thing is they told me they are changing how they do it and you need the maths c to take the course but at the same time she was telling me I would need to find another course to help me prepare for both. They found out about my diagnosis and I thought they might just be trying to fob me off because they think I can’t do the course if that is the case. Am I just being paranoid or is that a bit suspicious?
Not suspicious.
You’re not making the necessary grade for the course,
So you have to have to get the credit some way.
You’re being paranoid about it,
It’s not the diagnosis, it’s your grade.
But I just find it a bit odd how they changed their minds from posting the course on the website to me applying for it. Also how she was telling me that I need to find courses to prepare for doing both. I meet with her on Tuesday and I am going to record our conversation. If she is trying to get me off the course it is illegal and I will make sure something is done about it.
I don’t understand.
Are you wanting some sort of special accommodation because of the illness?
It sounds like they just need you to bump your grade up.
No signs of discrimination here.
You can record the conversation if it makes you feel better,
But I really don’t think they’re messing with you.
I’m not sure if you understand. The website says you can retake your grade. She said that has changed, but is telling me to prepare to retake my grade at the same time as saying it is no longer possible.
So the website says you can retake the course and she’s saying you can’t?
Yes, retake the grade alongside doing the course.
Well,
See what she has to say about it.
That’s really all you can do.
Record it if you must, but I still don’t think they’re trying to derail you because you disclosed your illness.
