@green5 There is a royal family of Japan. Monarchies have long been around before the establishments of governments. Hong Kong was a British colony after defeating the Qing Dynasty twice in the Opium Wars.

Monarchies did govern the land the Monarch presided over. Not until the 1700s did the British Empire establish the Prime Minister.

In terms of venerating a monarch or not, I like the USA people’s choice in 1774. They decided to forsake the British emperor and even fought a war for it. Men were born to be free and after that you are on your own. I like this USA notion.

@green5 That’s 1776. There were many events that lead to the 13 colonies to declare independence from the British Empire such as the tea tax. But there was a war between the British & the 13 colonies called the War of 1812. There was even an American Civil War between the Confederates & the Unionists,
