Advisor at the jobcentre?

Idk if I should but I want to at least try and get a job I like, I mean I really enjoy what I do at my clubhouse and I am heavily involved but i would love to get some pay for doing a meaningful job.

No offense but there are some people with other severe disabilities including mental and cognitive issues like cerebral palsy and similar and they can hold down a job so it makes me sad to think that I haven’t been able to do that for a while.

Don’t feel bad. Sz is really hard to deal with. So is the treatment for it many times. Now that you’re good at the Clubhouse jobs, try a volunteer job. If you’re good at that and can handle it, try part time work. And so on…. Good luck!

Well Clubhouse work is basically work training and I’ve been there for about 4 years now and I have really helped the place develop, I don’t think the place would be the same if I wasn’t there.

I’m hoping something easy comes along but not too easy, maybe an admin or reception person, I’d like to work in the charity sector as well, maybe retail, there is a job nearby that seems doable for short hours in a retail outlet.

I used to be a Clubhouse member. I really liked it but the one I was at only takes people on Medicaid. I have Medicare.

I’m glad you feel confident in your abilities. That’s awesome! The Clubhouse definitely was the right place for you to be.

I think since you feel so confident you could try working. What do you think about starting part time? Or are you ready to jump in full force and try full time? What’s your hope?

Well it would have to fall under the rules for permitted work, the rules are basically that I can work no more than 15 hours and get paid no more than £150 per week without it affecting my benefit payments.

No way i could do full time nd also i have fatigue atm but i still think i can do something, the retail job really appeals bc its 12hrs

how long were you a member?

that sounds really unfortunate :frowning: sorry that happened to you

Perfect! 12-15 hours is a great start into the workforce. Best of luck to you! Keep us posted

I think it’s great that you’re looking at ways of moving forward in recovery. I sure hope you find something that fits you well and that you also enjoy.

Thanks Vee, tbh i have been wanting to work for a long time off and on, when I improved back in 2012

I started doing more and then I went to college but I hit a few snags along the way and for some reason something always stopped me,

I got a cleaning TEP with my clubhouse a couple of times but I hated it and it wasn’t stimulating my brain enough.

Well I applied for a couple of local jobs today, 12hrs and 8hrs in retail, I doubt I’ll get them though bc there has been a lot of people applying.
