How do you know you have ADHD if your parents never cared about it and never asked a Dr about it?
I feel like I have ADHD and idk if its caused by sz negative symptoms. I had concentrations issues way before my sz diagnosis.
I had difficulty concentrating in school but mostly in language related courses.
My parents never heard of ADHD and they never heard of mental illnesses b4. I was in Syria up until 11y.o. and no one talks about mental illness there as its taboo.

They only knew about sz when my psychiatrist told them about it and they still don’t believe mental illness exists. My mother wanted to exorcise me.

My mother wanted to send me to Egypt so a priest known to do miracles there cures me without meds etc just by praying on me. She repeated this to me a few times but I stop her everytime.

About adhd? I honestly don’t know if its the sz or adhd giving me cognitive and negative symptoms but I had them years before my sz diagnosis. They just got worse after diagnosis and after being put on meds. I feel like I wasted a lot of time in my life for nothing.

It maybe shouldn’t have happened right away.
I had many good years reading novels on meds.
But I’ve been on them decades now.

My mom thought I had add as a kid. Nobody saw it because I had above average IQ as a kid (120ish). My sister denied it because I played video games all day and focused on that for hours at a time. My grades sucked. My mom comes off as a hypochondriac sometimes, but I don’t know. I struggle focusing on certain things like I couldn’t study math at community college until I drank caffeine (energy drinks) and tried really hard. I believe I ended up re-wiring my brain for mathematics. Luckily, that happened before 2011 (before schizophrenia) and at a young-ish age…
I had invisible aspergers and there might be a high comorbidity with add-inattentive type. I’m never hyper-active at all. I think it could be schizophrenia exacerbating my cognitive deficits for sure.

Maybe its that too for me. I am asking my Dr about it next apt next month. If you think you have adhd let your Dr know but idk if your experience with stimulants was bad.

Just thought I’d share. I googled a lot of things including things that don’t exist like schizotypal pd + asperger’s syndrome. I’ve been dx’d with a lot of things but it all boils down to a psychotic disorder called sza-depressive type and a touch of asperger’s syndrome.
I’m convinced aliens are real and I’ve been abducted by them. I believe in reincarnation among other things. No need to repeat myself but I believe I have knowledge that is beyond human.
