Addictions hard to break

Is there an addiction that you are struggling to break free from?

I am ashamed to discuss about my addiction. But, maybe need to find a better alternative that sticks and makes me want to pursue and get benefitted from it.

Yes I have been an alcoholic for 2 years, but now I’m so far 5 weeks and 3 days sober. I find it much easier to quit alcohol now that I don’t take olanzapine.
Also I eat too much, that also started when I got prescribed olanzapine 3 years ago, but by the help of ozempic I have lost 12 kgs

I have an addictive personality. I want to use intoxicants every day. Maybe I need to go to NA but I am out of the habit for that. God knows I’ve been to a lot of meetings. My last therapist was an addiction specialist and knew nothing about the twelve steps or the program. I don’t think I’m going to use but I say ONE DAY AT A TIME. I have five years clean and sober except when I relapsed by accident on chamomile extract which unbeknownst to me had sugar alcohol.

Does anyone know about the age you get?
Teenagers can get high in a instant
Twenty year olds needs short time to recovery to get high
30s need about a week or few days to recover?
Are these statements true?

Looks like it takes time to recover from addiction as we age. As per internet resources. If that is what you mean. It may depend on physical changes, mental health and social support.

I have a pretty obsessive nicotine addiction currently. Started really young. Ive done a fair amount of drugs in the past. I still crave one drug in particular regularly. Like when i imagine using it i get all intense and like butterfly stomach. But havent used in a while. Its tough sometimes. Alcohol isnt really very pleasurable anymore. Just makes me tired and dumb. So i rarely drink anymore.
