According to Harvard scientists

as recently reported on this website, weight loss is not determined by calories in, calories out, as has always been thought. It is determined by genetics, metabolism, physical activity, gut microbiome, medications, and food quality.

I wouldn’t be surprised. I think for me it’s more my metabolism has slowed down considerably.

So, we have control over our physical activity and over the quality of our food.

Genetics and metabolism plays a huge part

I must say that our psych meds also plays a big part

Can you share the link of Harvard scientists saying this?

Sorry. I don’t know how to do that. Could someone else find the relevant thread and post the article to this thread, please? I’m rather computer illiterate as I am an oldster.

I think the title has the word, Harvard, in it.

That was a good article. I never could have lost weight like i did without seeing my regular doc and going on Saxenda and Mounjaro. I just couldn’t lose the weight with diet alone, and i was so obese that exercise hurt. Now I’m just working to maintain my weight and that’s actually harder than the weight loss. APs don’t help the problem either…

I eat less, I lose weight. I eat more, I gain weight.

I can’t figure out the relationship here…

I have started to put weight on again

My plan is to try and adjust the intensity of my swimming because I think my body is used to it now

I have gained a bit back between seasonal treats and it being harder to exercise as much in the dark season. Only walked 4 km yesterday as we’re in a weird melt/freeze cycle and it has caused half the sidewalks in town to become skating rinks. God forbid the homeowners could put down some ice melt for pedestrians. Seriously considering a temporary gym membership.

Don’t know what your work benefits are like but we have a perks app and I saved a third on gym membership

The amount I use it works out cheaper than the public swimming pool

It’s also a very quiet place which helps a lot

The closest gym to me is not adults only and is very busy

Might be worth giving it a go

I know they do annual, 3-months or monthly here

Me neither, I’m still waiting for them to kick in. The new employer waived the waiting period, but this is rare so the HR peeps assumed they didn’t have to put me into the system for at least two more months. They were surprised when I phoned this morning and asked, “WELL???” They are expediting them, but it will be at least another week. I was told that anything I need to put through just do so and the company will refund me out of their own purse if necessary.

I asked if they could send me a benefits summary today. Nothing showed up. Will have to climb on the new boss’ back next week if nothing by then as assurances were given prior to jumping ship for the new company.
