A surprise at the VA hospital cafeteria the other day

It seems they ran out of coffee and I complained to the cashier about it. The cashier, who just happened to be from the UK, told me that I could get coffee downstairs at the Starbucks Cafe. I told him that I didn’t like Starbucks coffee. He then told me that he was “sorry”!!! I was shocked! I hadn’t heard an employee in America tell me they were “sorry” in many years. Like in 40 years to be exact.

I was so impressed that I went and told his supervisor. His supervisor told me that he himself had had a rotten day that day and that I had just made him very happy.

It seems that the British are very pleasantly different from Americans.

Yeah… people usually use the word unfortunately, my apologies, or just “my bad” in the US

Ive heard of starbucks

I’ve found that customer service employees never apologize or say “my bad” in the US. @Abise
