What does ‘touching’ do as opposed to what ‘swiping’ does?

Swiping is when you literally swipe with your finger from left to right (or right to left) on the screen. It will move the screen from left to right to display more icons to tap (touch).

to put it simply,
smartphone = computer
touch = click
swipe = scroll
touching on a smartphone is clicking on a computer, and swiping on a smartphone is scrolling on a computer
