I drove 75 miles up to San Fransisco with my friend when we were both 17 years old to see the Rolling Stones perform in an outdoor concert. It was held in a ballpark in 1978 and there were 60,000 people there.
We started out sitting in the 2nd floor bleacher seats and listening to them play for about 45 minutes and then we decided to walk around. We were walking around the hallways (both of us were tripping on acid by the way) where a lot of other people were walking too. All of a sudden we spotted this women we knew named Cathy. She was my neighbor and me and my friend used to buy our pot from her and her boyfriend on a regular basis.
She was several years older than us and she was really nice. So when we saw her we both called out “Hey Cathy” but she didn’t hear us and she kept walking until she disappeared into the crowd. Well we walked around a bit more and then we sat down again until we got restless again and we started walking again.
About a half hour later we were walking and we see Cathy again!!. This time she saw us and we stopped to talk. We weren’t really good friends with her but we were on great terms but we had never seen her high before and she had never seen us high. We kind of knew she was on acid and she kind of knew we were but none of us knew for sure so it was a kind of a funny awkward situation.
Anyways, the concert went on for a few hours with the Rolling Stones and some other acts like Santana and Eddie Money but to be honest, I was so out of it from the acid and a bunch of joints we brought in that the next day the only songs I remembered were “Beast of Burden” and “Brown Sugar”. But we both had a great time and it’s a good memory. But what were the odds of seeing someone we knew in a crowd of 60,000 people, not only once, but twice!!
