5:40 am and I can't sleep-again

I am soooo tied of this happening. (Get it? Tired of not being able to sleep, hahaha, just kidding it’s not funny) It’s been happening more frequently lately. I can fall asleep fairly easily if my roommate is still awake. But if she goes to bed early…I’m left alone in the dark and my brain starts doing crazy things…I’m still having weird perception issues currently and cannot sleep at all, I just toss back and forth in delirium. I even tried to go to bed on time tonight, it’s just so frustrating.

My therapist said I could take melatonin as a common and more natural way to help me sleep. I never wanted to go on sleep medication but my insomnia is ridiculous and I’m sick of it. Do I need a perscription for it or can I just go get it?

Depends where you are. In Australia, yes, you need a prescription for it. Been awhile since I looked into it but wasn’t covered by PBS either. I think for the US It’s over the counter but don’t hold me to that one. If you got time and it’s not out of your way, ask at the nearest pharmacy.

In Finland you do not need a prescription to get melatonin, I have tried it few times, but it did not work for me, however nowadays I get the good sleep with my current meds, melatonin may work or not.

Melatonin as far as I know is something our bodies is supposed to produce on it’s own but like a lot of things, it doesn’t always regulate itself properly.

I take it for insomnia. I find the ones that have 5-HTP and L-Theanine with a lower melatonin amount works best for me.

In Canada I can buy at pharmacy or health food stores.
