I’m challenging myself to go alcohol free for the month of January. I hope to maintain or lose some weight this year and become more active. I just did a mile walk for the first time since Nov. My shoulder is sore from the walk but I feel like I have a bit more energy, revived like. I’m also committing myself to taking my meds and not whining about it.
How did your shoulder get sore from the walk? I hope it feels better soon!
I’m going to go mostly vegetarian this year to try to lose weight. I’m also going to use my treadmill in the mornings. Start out easy at half hour walks then work up to intermittent jogs on it.
I’m also going to restart walking to work in the mornings.
And no more chocolate. I was never a big fan of chocolate until recently when I discovered mint chocolate kit kats and dream white chocolate. And I just couldn’t stop myself from eating it. But I need to go back to where I was and stop eating them!
And I’m going to restart using my walking app, my fitbit, and myfitnesspal.
I’m going to start getting back into exercising, since I’ve been missing it and because of my weight gain. I’m also going to seek out healthy alternatives to junk/fast food. Not sure if I should get on a diet or anything, but these ideas are a good start I think.
I eat lots of broccoli and brussel sprouts and vegetables. But I eat like a sumo wrestler sometimes and it seems I only want to eat at night to put me into a food coma of sleep.
Spacemonkey, I think that you’re going to do great. I’m going to start weight lifting again at the ymca since I have a membership already and there’s really no excuse to not use it you know?
I do yoga every day and practice piano for 45 minutes every day. I also take the stairs in my apartment complex. That is my exercise. I keep track of my calories on a calorie tracking app too. And, I never drink my calories either. I also do breathing meditation for 15 minutes, twice a day. That keeps my appetite in check. It all seems to work in keeping my weight down. My BMI is 21.9 I’m 5’8" and female and I weigh 147 lbs. I’m on three atypical AP’s and one SSRI.
I am tracking again on MyFitnessPal and also walking to and from work at the new job (except for the first day because I have to take some stuff in to put in my new office). I’m losing about 10K steps a day from the old job and I need to replace that activity, thus the walking.
Anyone who needs exercise buddies on MyFitnessPal is welcome to PM me and I’ll friend you there.
I think I have another theory as to why I went from 30 to 65.
now that I think about it, I’ve been missing a few days of 30-minute walks, so I would compensated by doing 1-hour walks. walking for an hour must’ve been hard, especially in the winter cold. along with that, I was doing lunges every weekday.
makes a lot of sense, because my other exercises haven’t increased as much as my lunges. like today, I held plank for like 1 minute and 45 seconds when I had held it for 1 minute and 34 seconds, last month.
Still sore today. Its because I have bad posture except when I walk or jog. So actually standing up tall was extra work for my shoulders and neck.
I walked 4.1 miles yesterday, of that 3 for exercise. A total of 57minutes of activity. Going to try for another 3 walks of a mile each. 2 of them I plan to be outside and the last mile on the treadmill. There is a 1000mile challenge on MFP and also FitBit forums. I want to reach 1000miles in 2017. Last year I only walked 600miles according to fitbit.
I’ve been walking everyday and reaching my calorie goal. Waiting to weigh in on Sunday or Monday to see how this new plan is working. So far its been a Dry January. I set up an appt with a new therapist for Monday and see my GP later in the month. I’ve got a new inhaler waiting at the pharmacy because the insurance changed its coverage. Hopefully this brand will work better. My neck is still sore and now my upper back. Maybe I’m doing too much too quickly?
Well, my exercise has been crap, but I’ve mostly been staying within calorie goals and tracking every day. Just need for it to warm up enough that I can walk to work. Don’t want to freeze bits off in the cold.
I’m getting back in the water starting Monday. I’m a swimmer but it’s been a month or so since I swam.
My workout is 100 meter freestyle, 100 meter breaststroke, 50 meter kick. I do 3 intervals of that and then a 50 meter cool down for a total of 800 meters. I do this workout 3 times a week for a total of 2400 meters swam a week.
Once the weather warms up I will add 3 days a week of 30 minute walks with my dog.
If I keep up this routine I will lose the 15 pounds I’m aiming for with minimal diet change by summer.
Day 7 update: I walked everyday this week. Didn’t get up to my goal of 19miles which sets me up to reach 1000miles this year. But I’m sure I’ll make up the miles with some long walks later on when I’m able to go that far and long. I thought I blew my diet yesterday by eating 5 servings of a bag of chips, but then I check MFP. I just barely made my calories. I guess I need to eat more at lunch and breakfast so I don’t pig out. I’m not much for eating small meals throughout the day or snacking. I tend to just have 2 meals a day plus 1 snack.
Haven’t had any alcohol this week. It was tough because I didn’t know what to do with myself during the time I usually have drinks. I have some fidgets that keep my hands busy. I challenge myself to 1 more week of sobriety. To continue to walk everyday.
