2 weeks since my last Escitalopram dose

I took my last Escitalopram (Or Lexapro, Cipralex, whatever you wanna call it) dose on June 4th. These are the positives and negatives i’ve noticed so far.

Negatives: Having lots of nightmares. Brain zaps (though the zaps arent super uncomfortable, I still rather not have them lol)

Positives: My depression and anxiety have not got worse. This could still change but i’m feeling optimistic. Increased libido, harder erections, better orgasms. Slightly drecreased appetite. (hoping stopping Olanzapine in the near future will further lower my appetite) i’m able to cry again! I feel more human. Falling asleep easier.

Nice man. Sounds like its going well.
Im a couple weeks without any antipsychotics now. Its been fine so far. It might be a small chance but it would be a dream come true if i manage to stay stable without ap meds for years to come.

Whats your reason for stopping?

I’m glad things have improved for you, I was finally able to start to lose weight when I got off Lexapro last year. But the brain zaps from the withdrawal was terrible for me

Thank you!

If you don’t mind me asking, how much weight did you lose? Im hoping me stopping Lexapro (I call it Cipralex) and eventually stopping Olanzapine too wil help me lose 100 pounds.

I have lost 90 pounds by diet and exercise since May of 2023. At my high weight I was 295 pounds. I’m so close to breaking into the 100s I can taste it. I have to say though I am on very weight neutral meds now (Geodon, Welbutrin, Loxapine and Ambien) all those meds I am on do not typically increase appetite and the Welbutrin helps me not get as hungry. For a time I was also on 100 mg of Topamax purely for the sought after side effect of a lower appetite.

That’s amazing, you inspire me!

I havent weighed myself recently but if I had to guess, i’m somewhere from 245 to 255 pounds. Im short so that weight makes me technically obese :-1:

Thanks for sharing your story. You have me feeling more confident that I can get down to my goal weight of 150 pounds.

You can do it! It’s hard work but so worth it. I believe in you that you can accomplish your goal!

Thank you! I bet since you’ve lost 90 pounds your blood pressure, resting heart rate, cholesterol levels, lungs function, ect have all improved.

Oh yes there has been a huge difference. My exercise induced asthma has practically gone away, I have been able to cut my betablocker in half because my heart rate and blood pressure have improved so much.

Well ive been stable without any positive symptoms for a few years. And the meds make me anhedonic and socially anxious. So i wanted to try getting off them one more time. Its all with the help of a pdoc and stuff. Reduced the dose over time. I didnt just abruptly stop. That would guarantee psychosis i reckon.
