I have been off olanzapine for 2 weeks now and I feel lucky that there seems to be no withdrawals. I’m on 50 mg seroquel, but think I will tapper down to 25 mg. Is it true that seroquel will not work antipsychotic at such a small dose?

So how much are you supposed to take for it to have antipshycotic affect

You probably need a minimum of 250mg
Dosages of IR quetiapine averaging between 254 and 525 mg/day have been shown to be equivalent in efficacy to standard dosages of conventional and other atypical antipsychotics.
There are always exceptions to the rule. I have read several stories about people getting by on 100mg seroquel or less. @Airparticle is a example I believe.
I have used 5mg of zyprexa for years, but 10mg is considered the minimum effective dose for sz.
All you need to do is listen to your body. Why take a higher dose if you have no symptoms. Right?

I think I was started out on 200mg or 300mg when I was first prescribed it in 2015. In 2019 I was taking 800mg daily plus 50mg as needed.
Just to let you know I’m currently on 50mg of Seroquel and on 500mg of divalproex, I been recently diagnose with bipolar 1 with psychotic features so perhaps I’m not the best example.

Anemone there are just as many drug reactions as people on the face on the earth. Maybe you are one of the.very rare cases who only needs 25 mg of qutiapine. Personally I manage my life very well on 800 mg Seroquel and a very very good depot injection every 3 weeks.
please don’t waiver from what you are prescribed, if your pdoc says you can have a lower dose…then you can, but not until then…sorry…
