Stimulating formation of new neural connections in the adult brain

As I understood it, most antipsychotics probably do this for you. Periods of psychosis and depression are most likely brain damage…I think that is pretty obvious with cognitive loss being commonly reported…but they may form new neural links with the meds which is why you have some improvement?

The genetic manipulation used in mice as part of the study wouldn’t work in humans. Instead, Fuerst and his team would next like to test small-molecule drugs that regulate these central nervous system processes – currently used to combat cancer in humans – to see if they can help the nervous system make new connections in mice.

Even me, with my 1/1000 of a brain, noticed that it is just a study on mice,
and not on humans.
So, don’t get yourself too fired up just yet.

I wonder how far up or down the ladder mice are when it comes to research? Are they like the last step before clinical trial phase 1?

Yes they are before 1st phase…can they actually moddeled sz in mouse correctly…

I know they are before phase 1 but are they like the last step?
