Setting Sun
I heard a song today that reminded me of you
Or should I confess it caused me to pause
Listen closely to something other than my mind
And smile, just a little, at life itself—
Better to know the lessons we should learn
Outside of schedules we have to meet
Drift aimlessly once in a while maybe
Than scorn what we do not understand—
If ever you forgive me I am blessed
Today though I forgive myself at last
Though songwriter I will never be
And poetry, well, the sun is setting—
As the darkness starts to approach me
I wonder, I learn, to love irony
Wisdom, truth, life without regret
And how the moon will look tonight…
