"Sesame Street" Debuts Autistic Character Julia

“Sesame Street” debuted a new character today, a four-year-old girl named Julia. And she’s on the autism spectrum.

What does this have to do with schizophrenia? Well, there are people who have comorbid schizophrenia and are on the autism spectrum.

It’s been a long time coming, but let’s hope Julia paves the way for all children to come to the realization that while we’re all different we’re all the same.

This story brought tears to my eyes (finally some light after decades of struggling in the dark).

I heard about this on the news. Stacy Gordon, the woman who is the puppeteer for the new character Julia, has an autistic son.
