CONCLUSIONS: We found a positive association between SLE and schizophrenia across patients of different age, gender and SES. This association can contribute to understanding the pathophysiology of the two disorders and may also have clinical implications for earlier as well as better diagnosis and treatment.
Lupus runs in my family. I have an aunt and sister who have it. My mom probably had it but was undiagnosed. I was tested for it years ago and told that I have the “marker” for it (don’t know what that means and didn’t pursue) My son had Kawasaki’s Disease when he was little, which is a rare auto-immune disease. So, I’m not at all surprised there may be some correlation.
