Poll: Everhopeful's Poems

I personally get a kick out of them. There’s something to be said for conciseness and brevity.

Do you like @everhopeful’s poems?

  • Yes

  • No

  • They’re the scribblings of a deranged Madman!! Think of the children!!

I love them, personally. Of course, some of them are stronger than others, but the best of them have good rhythm and surprising insight packed into a concise format. Reminds me of some of Richard Brautigan’s work.

lol!

I think Daze voted for number 3!

i liked the poem because it was a single thought, split across a white canvas, in brief microthoughts. A taste of “what are these normals?” remains on the tongue after reading it. A quizzical nod at a life where to be normal is abnormal to oneself.

Also, they are reminiscent of William Carlos Williams poem, “a red wheelbarrow.”

"so much depends
upon

a red wheel
barrow

glazed with rain
water

beside the white
chickens." --william carlos williams

Free verse is the style of poetry that usually has no rhyme or meter attached. It’s free. Very popular modern style of poetry (I took a poetry class at the community college and I am a big fan of poetry, especially free verse, post-modern stuff like Philip Levine).

HIGH FIVE! 10 out of 10 red wheelbarrows

Is ‘Haiku’ 5 syllables, then 7, then 5 again?

Yes, it’s 5/7/5
Except maybe it should be 15/15/15 if posted here

I didn’t know that. I need to work on my Japanese!

Does Haiku mean ‘bless you’ in Japanese?
