I’ve been told this happens to many people… Does it happen to you?

I get depressed on risperidone. It really interferes with my life and marriage.

At least we know it’s the meds and not who we are as people.

Yesss … Of course it happens.

Antipsychotics are well known to worsen existing Negative Symptoms and even create or trigger Negative Symptoms in people not currently suffering with Negative Symptoms.

Ever since going up on my Risperidone dose to 3mg I am barely functioning.

All I seem to be doing is sleeping on the couch.

Its been very difficult for me to take a shower or brush my teeth!

I told my psychiatrist about it and she said to give it some time until I adjust to the higher dose.

Today was a pretty good day for me.

I seemed to accomplish enough.

I too get depressed on risperidone :frowning:

Even on a low dosage of 2 mg, it took me more than six months to get back some motivation and feel emotions again.

I will try to reduce the dosage further after three more months.

Yeah the atypicals get me down and contribute to my negative symptoms.

For me, it was the typicals which caused a loss of all motivation. The atypicals don’t do that to me. If they were going to try to put me on Haldol again I don’t think I could face that. I would probably choose to live on the street and be psychotic.
